FSNE Adult Programs

Health by Design (PDF) provides a series of five lessons on healthy eating, weight maintenance and physical activity. Using a learner-centered approach, the program helps adult participants incorporate new information into their current knowledge and encourages them to make healthier choices.
WalkWays (PDF) is a four-lesson program that promotes healthy eating and walking. It uses a pedometer to record daily steps and track increases in physical activity. Participants work together to overcome barriers to physical activity and celebrate success.
SmartChoice$ (PDF) offers a series of five lessons to help program participants develop skills in managing resources and food shopping so that they will be better able to provide nutritious and adequate food for their families. Lessons provide information on applying for food stamps, developing a spending plan and food budget, and becoming a better food shopper.
Integrating Nutrition into the School Curriculum (PDF) is a 30-hour course for elementary and middle school teachers. It provides the basics of nutrition, focusing on current health issues relevant to both children and teachers. Teachers learn practical ways to integrate nutrition education into the required curriculum and earn two MSDE credit hours upon completion of the course.
